Empowering social service providers with data

Innovation that optimizes services and outcomes for children at risk

Client Objective

Taking the future by the hand. An organization working to transform the child welfare system wanted to create structural change and eliminate inequities. But their lack of data and technology tools was getting in the way of improving services for the most vulnerable children, youth, and families in our communities.

Unique Challenge

Reaching for efficiency. The team wanted to optimize their services, including family visitation, case management, at-risk youth drop-in centers, and foster care applications.​ However, they lacked the resources and technology to efficiently collect, analyze, and report data that would empower them.

Unify Solution

Improving processes and outcomes. Unify was tasked with bringing together multiple social service providers to document and analyze inconsistent processes across common services, identify areas of inefficiency, and recommend both process and technology enhancements to improve outcomes for the agencies’ customers. Intensive process definition workshops allowed team members to collaborate and share best practices and collectively identify patterns of inefficiency. In-context immersion provided the project team with insight into process nuances, which were used to inform both potential process improvements and the design of the supporting technology tool’s features.

​The cloud-based solution enabled service providers working with the same customers to share data (given the appropriate consent) and have a feedback loop that allowed them to assess how their services were working.

Proven Impact

Impacting tomorrow through better data collection. Thanks to Unify, the client has streamlined a very time-consuming business process and now has comprehensive data collection, workflow management, and data analytics and reporting​. Time savings have allowed agency staff to provide more personalized customer care​. They have decreased wait time in their services such as family visitation and drop-incenter registration. Overall, the organization’s​ reliable data collection has provided a more holistic picture of their customers. And that means a brighter future for more kids.
