A large healthcare provider experienced expansive growth both through rapid acquisitions and joint venture partnerships with other provider networks. The organization is responsible for eight different care pillars and has commitments with dozens of partner organizations. However, despite massive growth, they lacked a centralized data repository for analytics and reporting. Leadership was limited to using manually-created Excel reports to make decisions for an organization with over $12B in annual revenue. They needed a solution that would reduce manual data entry and increase accuracy and trust in reporting.
Unify created a new Tableau scorecard that utilized a combination of certified data sources and SharePoint lists. The data sources selected were managed by internal analytics teams using documented business logic in order to increase accuracy and trust in the scorecard. A source-of-truth index table was created in tandem with leadership to allow all disparate partner data sources to be mapped to the organizational hierarchy of the business. SharePoint lists were used as controllable manual entry points to cover small data gaps where joint-venture partners hadn’t yet migrated to the new centralized systems. The team identified, defined, and documented all the business processes that went into the production of the scorecard and provided hands-on training to end-users.
The Tableau scorecard removed the need for end-users, including top executives, to access disparate reports every month to manually search for key data points. The new scorecard corrected errors that were identified in previous scorecard processes, improving trust and reliability. The improvements lead to savings in the time and expense of working with data and improved the overall accuracy of reporting.
